The universally asked questions in an HR interview are:
Tell about yourself!
As I will not be able to answer that for you, I have mentioned a few
points to add on in ‘Your Story’. Keep it interesting!
- Start by greeting him/her, you could use “I am glad to introduce myself to you” or “Nice to meet you” followed by your name.
- Fit in your hometown, where your stay!
- Your hobbies and interest.
- A little about your family and friends in general.
I’m glad to introduce myself to u. I’m Teddy. I was born and brought up in Chennai. I am an Engineer specialised in Electronics and Communication. I play Hockey and have been in National level tournaments. I did my Degree in St.Joseph’s and my schooling in Presentation Convent. In both parts of my life I’ve had supportive friends who made things easy for me. I live in a joint family which adds to my strength because it’s from them I learnt to share. Reading books and watching movies are my interests. I’m an extrovert and I get along with people easily. I like learning new things and experiment with it.
What do you think your Strengths are?
Answer to the point and tell the
best element in you! We’ve got a few clues for you, from which you could pick
and modulate!
- Am a quick learner and adaptable; I get along with people easily; Am self-motivated; I have a positive attitude.

What
do you think your Weakness is?
That is one tricky question! You don’t
have to put yourself down in front of the HR instead convey it through a
positive message.
- I trust people easily; Stubbornness to excel on the choice I make; Staying focused on one thing at a time; I’ve got good memory (doesn’t forget things easily).

Why
Should I hire you?
This question is going to get you
the Job. Tell him/her your significance. The answer is nothing but the career
objective you’ve written in your resume, just organise it.
An Example:
As
a fresher, this will be my first platform to prove myself and I will work with
full effort which will contribute to the growth of the company and as well as
myself. I assure you that I will never let the company down.
Now that you have given the reasons
for him/her to choose you over others, explain why you chose to work for them,
by them I mean the company.
An Example:
I
believe this company where you will provide a good platform for me to explore
my talents, skills and let me grow along with the growth of the company.
Moreover being a fresher, working in such a reputed company is no less than any
golden opportunity.
Be sure of your answer as you have
to stick to it! Take a moment to think and respond! If you are ready to take up
night shifts say yes, if not justify!
An Example:
Definitely
there wouldn’t be a problem working in nights and weekends if the work demands
my presence. Otherwise I would love to spend the nights and weekends with my
family.
Do not promise any numbers. Be
generic. If they insist to tell the number of years you would stay, you can roughly
tell them nothing less than 3 years.
An Example:
As
long as there are mutual learning and growth. I am looking forward to make a
long term commitment because I don’t believe in short term switches.
You could share some of your
experiences if any, else get it simple.
An Example:
I
believe once we realize want we want then the decision isn’t tough. Only if we
have an unclear objective the decision becomes tough. As of now I haven’t faced
any difficulties in deciding. I’ll let you know if I come across such
situations in future.
Explain your short-term goal.
An Example:
Well
it’s difficult to predict the future but I would like to see myself as a
supportive person for both my family and the company I’ll work for. Also as a
responsible employee in a reputed position working with full dedication, hopefully
it’s with your company if I get through this interview.
With this coming up, you’ve come to
the end of the interview! Always try to ask a couple of questions, that shows
interest.
Example:
- I would like to know the feedback from your part on areas that I need to improvise.
- I would like you to share some of your work experience with the company.
- Could you tell me in which areas I should improve myself if I get this job?
