Till 1965 India’s borders with Pakistan were manned by the State Armed Police Battalion. Pakistan attacked Sardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet on 9 April, 1965 in Kutch. This exposed the inadequacy of the State Armed Police to cope with armed aggression due to which the Government of India felt the need for a specialized centrally controlled Border Security Force, which would be armed and trained to man the International Border with Pakistan. As a result of the recommendations of the Committee of Secretaries, the Border Security Force came into existence on 01 Dec 1965, and Shri K F Rustamji was the first chief and founding father.

Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or lnstitution.

Assistant Commandant (Electrical)-8 Posts
Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or lnstitution.

BSF Recruitment 2017 Selection Process:
Written Examination

The Written Examination will bc conducted at the selection centers
There will be two composite papers as under :

First Paper(Common for all-2 Hours MCQ Type)
General English : 25 Questions – 25 Marks
General awareness: 25 Questions – 25 Marks
Reasoning: 25 Questions – 25 Marks
Numerical Aptitude : 25 Questions – 25 Marks

Second Paper:
For the post of AC(Works)
Civil Engineering-10 Questions -100 Marks

For the post of AC(Electricals)
Electrical Engineering-10 Questions -100 Marks

Physical Standards:
Height -Male -165 cms, Female – 157 cms
Chest (unexpanded) (with 5 cms. minimum expansion)- Male -81 cms
Weight -Male -50 Kg, Female – According to height but not less than 46 Kgs

Medical Standards:
Vision: minimum distant vision 6/6 and 6/9 both eyes without correction (i.e.without wearing of glasses).

Required Qualification:B.E/B.Tech

Required Experience:Freshers

Salary:Rs.15600-39100/Month
