Job Designation: Erection & Commissioning Engineer
Job Description:
- Technical contribution: Represents the commissioning function at project meetings and design review meetings. Contributes to creation of the project commissioning philosophy and implementation. Implements commissioning design changes and the production of as built project documentation. Supports continuous improvement of project process and product and system design via provision of lessons learned feedback.
- Sales support: Assists in creating proposals for engineering projects or programs through provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours for own discipline.
- Contract management: Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications etc.).
- Planning and control: Creates work plans and cost estimates for work in own area of responsibility and proactively manages this work to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality and at targeted cost.
- Risk and opportunity management: Represents the commissioning function at risk review meetings throughout the project lifecycle e.g. hazard and operability study and hazard identification study reviews in the design phase and the Commissioning panel during the commissioning phase. Conducts risk and opportunity assessments in real time during the commissioning phase to ensure safe implementation of the commissioning philosophy and identification of potential variation requests to support contract claims. Reports early any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management, along with recommendations for resolution.
- Customer: Coordinates site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification. Acts as the ABB lead for commissioning activities on a project. Ensures that ABB is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
- Supply chain management : Manages external organizations providing Commissioning with equipment, systems or services (e.g. issues permits to work, provides guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices, accepts as complete work done).
- Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Coaches Associate Commissioning Engineers.
- Processes and tools: Uses agreed processes and procedures to ensure that all commissioning activities comply with the required safety regulations and satisfy contractual requirements.
- People leadership and development: May task manage a small commissioning team.
