Company Profile: The Indian Air Force was officially established on 8 October 1932.Its first ac flight came into being on 01 Apr 1933. It possessed a strength of six RAF-trained officers and 19 Havai Sepoys (literally, air soldiers). The aircraft inventory comprised of four Westland Wapiti IIA army co-operation biplanes at Drigh Road as the "A" Flight nucleus of the planned No.1 (Army Co- operation) Squadron.
The IAF's mission is defined by the Armed Forces Act of 1947, Constitution of India and the Air Force Act of 1950,[6] in the aerial battlespace, as:
“Defence of India and every part thereof including preparation for defence and all such acts as may be conducive in times of war to its prosecution and after its termination to effective demobilisation.”
Thus, the IAF has the primary objective of safeguarding Indian territory and national interests from all threats in conjunction with the other branches of the armed forces by defending Indian airspace. The IAF provides close air support to the Indian Army troops in the battlefield and also provides strategic and tactical airlift capabilities. IAF also provides infantry and artillery transportations or secondary Airlift for the Indian Army . The IAF also operates the Integrated Space Cell together with the other two branches of the Indian Armed Forces, the civilian Department of Space and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to utilise more effectively the country's space-based assets for military purposes and to look into threats to these assets.

Women Candidates :

Branch : Flying Branch (No.200/16F/SSC/W (Short Service Commission))

Qualification : Graduates (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised University who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or BE/B Tech degree (Four year course) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.

Age Limit : 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2016 (Born between 02 July 1992 and 01 July 1996 (Both dates inclusive))

Physical Standards:

Height and Weight : Minimum height : 162.5 cms with correlated weight, Leg Length : Min -99 cms. Max - 120 cms.Thigh Length : Max - 64 cms.Sitting Height : Min - 81.5 cms. Max - 96 cms.

Vision : (a) Minimum Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.

Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}

Qualification : Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognised University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies. Candidates should also fulfill conditions

Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}

Education Qualification : Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognised University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies. Candidates should also fulfill conditions given in Para 4 (b)

Selection Procedure : All applicants whose online applications have been successfully submitted will be called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) (applicable only for candidates applying for technical branch) to be conducted on 13 September 2015 (Sunday) at one of the examination centres mentioned below. Candidates will be required to login to their candidate login accounts regularly for information on AFCAT, EKT(if applicable) and AFSB testing. The AFCAT will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Sample question paper and syllabus of AFCAT is available on IAF career website. For Flying Branch: Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) would be administered to eligible candidates.
